Everything you need to know about how to vote in the Minnesota 2026 Midterm Elections
EARLY VOTING
Early voting for the 2026 General Election began on September 18. Minneapolis residents can vote at the Minneapolis early voting location between now and Election Day.
Two more early voting locations, one in North and one in South Minneapolis, open Tuesday, October 20, along with one-day pop-up voting events across the city.

You can vote early in your own city too.
HOURS:
Open Monday - Friday 8 am - 4:30 pm until October 16th.
After October 16th it is open most days including weekends.
ELECTION DAY VOTING
On Election Day (Tuesday, Nov 3rd) the above early voting location will be closed. Rather, residents must vote at their polling location dependent on their address. You can find your Election Day voting location at: https://pollfinder.sos.mn.gov/.
Polling locations are open from 7 am to 8 pm on Election Day.
Note: As long as you're in line by 8 p.m., you can vote, even if you do not reach the front of the line until after 8 p.m.

REGISTERING TO VOTE
Register To Vote Online
You can register to vote online or in person while voting early or on Election Day.
REGISTER TO VOTE IN PERSON ON ELECTION DAY
To register to vote in person, be sure to bring something that can prove your Minnesota residence (ID with current name and address; photo ID with a document that proves your name and address such as a bill or a lease, etc).
YOUR RIGHTS AS A VOTER
Did you know that it is your right to take off work to vote?
Your employer must pay you for the time you need to vote, if it falls within your scheduled work time. Your employer cannot require you to use personal leave or vacation time. In 2023, the right to time off work to vote was expanded to include any time during the absentee and early voting period, which begins 46 days before the election.
